You should watch the 1st season, it’s very good. As for the gay crap it’s a camera man, nothing is seen on screen, the crew used is not part of the production company
Personally, I’ll stick with the 1977 ministries “Jesus Of Nazareth”, the 2013 miniseries “The Bible” along with its spin-off movie, “Son Of God” or “The Passion Of The Christ” instead.
The production company included it in their promo video that they cut.

From the commercials I saw, the series looked absolutely dreadful, so I was never tempted to watch.
