Nope. But the FFL dealer keeps a copy for 20 years or until stopping being a FFL.
The ATF can request to see them (not take them) when tracing a gun purchase.
Now, the states are different. Some keep ‘background check’ records at the state level, ‘for the life of the gun’. Was supposed to be only for 90 days. So that is a ‘gun registry’ in that state.
Get your law degree before going to the gun shop. And the law will have changed anyway. And everyone you interact will have a different perception of the gun laws.
