I'm leaning toward demons too. Humans are too frikken stupid to be of interest to aliens.

Common sense would tell us that no aliens traveling across light years of space would stop at Earth to observe humans. Of course, they might have just needed to make a bathroom stop...and we do have some good fast-food restaurants (Chic-fil-la can be pretty good).

Unless, of course, the lore is true that they created us. Or perhaps the lore about them trying to keep us from destroying our civilization, again.

We just don't know what is going on. On the other hand, it seems there are people who do know what is going on. Those working the "projects" are not actually part of the government; hence, no government oversight, no government people who know.
