Johannesburg, South Africa was treated to a rare dusting of snow this week – the city’s first in more than 10 years.
The unexpected winter wonderland was part of a patch of snow that covered various provinces through the weekend into Monday, South Africa’s Times newspaper reported.
Photos from around the city show delighted residents gallivanting among the snowflakes, which last coated the area in August 2012.
“Eleven years down the line, it’s exciting that we have snow,” local Jennifer Banda said.
Others on social media referred to the weather as “pure magic,” The Guardian reported.

I didn’t read it; Was it about Nuclear Winter? I am thinking that we could scare the bujesers out of the tree huggers by starting some Nuclear Winter talk.
It is interesting how all of those who support the war in Ukraine like yourself continually brand those who oppose it and have always opposed it as “Ukraine War supporters.”
Careful...it is winter time in an area well away from the Equator - this is South Africa, not equatorial Africa with the desserts, tropical rain forests, etc. They could make a narrative the fact it has been so rare in the last 11 years is because of global warming.
See if you can find any postings of me supporting the war in Ukraine - I prefer NOT having Russian nukes on high alert, and ready to pounce if there is even a mistake made.
