Fox was going to release this movie three years ago, but folded under pressure and did not release it. Maybe it is all just a coincidence.
Assuming your numbers are correct, add 20 out of 2852 theaters, had issues. That’s not a conspiracy.
The per theater average of the film so far has been a few thousand dollars per theater, so even if 20 theaters were down an entire day, on its business per theater average day (which was July 4th), this would have equated to 5407 (theater average) x 20 which equates to 108k or so of lost revenue.
That’s not enough to have any major effect on a movies overall revenue.
As I said, this is more likely the folks who went to see this movie were more prone to report the fact they had issues on social media, and claiming conspiracy and the right wing media sights were more than happy to run with it to get eyeballs.
I am sure that this was hardly the only movie that had issues in theaters with HVAC that day.
Could there have been an individual rogue employee here and there playing games, sure that’s possible.. but the idea that AMC corporate ordered this across their 547 theaters in the US is laughably absurd.
Don’t have to take my word for it, here are the returns:

Please explain how turning off the AC AFTER that person has bought the tickets is supposed to suppress turn out.
