A few years a similar dress code showed up for some bar and I asked my son about it. He said the “work boots” was to keep the black thugs out! “Huh?? For wearing work boots!??”

He explained that it is a hip-hop thing, specifically tan Timberland work boots. And the wanna-be “rappers” wear them. I imagine it is similar for the “baggy clothes” and “inappropriate head-wear” (such as red or blue bandannas or hats).

Although I bet if I showed up in my baggy shirt, jeans and brown work boots I would be just fine. Maybe even my red, white and blue bandanna on my head - but I wouldn’t push it.

Who k we? Well it was just a few years back that Timberland boots were all the rage in our town. And the preppy guys wore then with Ralph Lauren shirts.
