Correct...he is very interesting on his radio program. But, the Chris in a suit, behind a desk, regular TV setup doesn’t work with his quirky personality.
It should be homey, stuffed chairs, lamps, a living room, casual clothes, informal chatty format, to many talking heads with him. They have placed Chris in the wrong situation...fish out of water. The setup is just NOT him.
Agree completely. Needs to be a lot looser (his radio show is certainly loose and freewheeling!). An equally-witty recurring guest or two, maybe a monologue focused on the day’s news delivered in his usual cynical fashion, and, heck, why not take a couple of calls ala Larry King?
The occasional cameo by his “best girl” even.
That would be playing to his strengths, and a lot of fun.
