Police: Trio of TSA officers conspired to steal from MIA flyers

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police arrested three Transportation Security Administration officers Thursday after accusing them of conspiring to steal passengers’ money as they went through screening at Miami International Airport.

According to an arrest report, MIA’s federal security director contacted Miami-Dade Police Department detectives Thursday about recent ongoing thefts at a security checkpoint in Concourse E.

I know a guy who went to work for what was Northwest Airlines as a baggage handler after he got out of high school in 1994. Almost 30 years later he’s now working for Delta, but pulling in close to a six digit salary because of his time, and the unions.

I also threw bags for a time, never witnessed anybody rifling through people’s bags myself, but I have seen a mand taking those little bottle of liquor off the aircraft on more than one occasion.

Well the Flyers were MIA from the Playoffs.

I was once robbed of money going through TSA security. There was a bunch of TSA agents there. When picking up my stuff from the bin I noticed some cash was missing - “where’s my money?” I asked. Again, “WHERE IS MY MONEY??”. They all just looked at me and said, “That isn’t our responsibility!”. Say what? Going through security doesn’t include making sure people don’t get robbed!?!?!?!?!

It didn’t occur to me that the TSA may have been the criminals....kinda naive of me I suppose.

That exact thing happened to me one time. When I told the black female cashier I gave her a 20 she didn’t react at all, just immediately gave me a 10 and a death stare which told me it was not a mistake.

They have been replaced and the stealing continues without missing a beat. It is the American way.

OK, it was twenty years ago, but I left my purse in the security area in one of the London airports. Thankfully I had put my passport in a body belt and had a spare car key, but had to drive home 2 hrs with no license after landing in the US. The next day, a British airport worker phoned. They had found the purse; she quoted a figure to send it to me from London, and asked to remove that amount of cash from the purse to pay for sending it.

When the purse arrived, everything was still there: wallet, ID, keys, and an item of silver jewelry. I was absolutely astounded—then sad, at what USA had even by then become.

I figured that out myself.   The editor could have made it MIA travelers instead of flyers.   I had a forty year career in telecommunications and we used the Airport designators to identify our long distance terminals.

I think editors intentionally jack around just to be cute and clever but miss their mark very often.

Who calls airline passengers flyers?   It is proper to call a pilot a flyer but not the passengers.
