Sounds like 2027 will be a tough year for car sales. I predict sales will be down approximately 43%

Since EV’s are far from zero emission then it should be easy to prove in court they do not qualify as zero emission.

New Mexico already has huge numbers of zero emission vehicles. Most of them on blocks in the side yard.

I’ve driven that route several times. Carry extra water, gasoline and an extra gun with you.

“New Mexico already has huge numbers of zero emission vehicles. Most of them on blocks in the side yard.”

LOL! Isn’t that the truth?

At the same time the state is asking us to limit the strain on the electrical grid due to the heat this week and next by setting our thermostats to 78 during the day if we're in the home, 82 at night, and 88 if we're away.

Oh, side note, most of the homes in New Mexico that do have air conditioning are cooled by evaporative cooling (swamp coolers). Not refrigerated air. Evaporative coolers are great for electricity costs, as they only run a small pump and a squirrel cage blower. They also work great until temps get to 95+ degrees in monsoon season, then they don't do squat. What would the strain be if we all switched to refrigerated air?

I was driving a backroad in the Manzanos and came across a DeSoto in ok shape sitting next to an abandoned A Frame cabin. It was pretty weird.

Will power plants that generate electricity for the battery cars be zero emissions, too?

Sweet. I might go to New Mexico and get back in the car biz. Prices will skyrocket! Maybe I’ll specialize in diesel trucks.

Michelle

Quit trying to turn New Mexico into downtown LA. Take your sorry butt back to the District of Corruption and officially go to work for the Dimocrap Party.

You, long ago, wore out your welcome in NM.

I guess the handwriting is on the wall if I want a plug in hybrid, I need to buy it soon. Maybe I will also sink some money into rebuilding my V8 pickup truck.

This nonsense is so going to backfire and have to be canceled by the politicians who passed it.

What if at least 47% of potential car-buyers don’t want an electric vehicle?

... automakers would also have the option of buying credits from other companies to help meet the 43% requirement for 2027 electric vehicles.

Huge kickbacks to companies that make electric vehicles via these credits.

Betcha somewhere a democrat has his (or her!) hand out and his (or her!) wallet fattened.

Then the actual gas engine car buyer will be paying much more for the privilege of these democrats getting their "credits".

I’m guessing all the Hispanics in ABQ and Las Cruces will LOVE spending $75K+ for their new electric cars in 2027!

Or maybe NM will require all whites to buy 2 electric cars so the Hispanics won’t need to. As a form of reparations...
