Interesting article. I live in Michigan and had not heard of the connection to the now-defunct annual Women’s Music Festival (MichFest). Huge online and in person battles between TERFs and Third-Wave feminists etc over inclusion/exclusion of individuals from the festival who declared they were trans women verbally but may not have even begun dressing differently much less medically transitioning. Was a very low key hush hush “private” public event despite the large numbers of attendees and headline music groups annually.
Around 1991 a transgender woman attended MichFest and when it was discovered what he was they threw him out. This was an event for women born women.
Well two years later “Camp Trans” opened across the street and it would seem Dana Rivers helped organize and attended that.
