I think of this every time I see one of the local 30-somethings at the grocery store walk away from her minivan and press a button on her keyfob that makes the rear door close itself. Aren’t you clever! Wait ‘till it breaks.
I just spent over $90 on an oil change when it used to be $45. They even admitted the costs recently doubled.
But inflation is at 8% annual.
Power doors and gates are like escalators when they stop working.
You just have to do the work yourself
I’m a 60 something and I like it when I walk up to the back of the SUV with both arms full of groceries or whatever, all I have to do is stand next to the hatch for a brief moment, and it opens.
When I bought a new gladiator for my business, the sales reps didn’t like the fact I only wanted power windows and locks, and nothing else. More crap you have more stuff is going to break. I have the advantage of being a mechanic in the past, but I don’t want to fix useless to me garbage.
Or an electric start fob. I want a key.
I hear that a lot from old fuddy duddys who pine for the days of hand cranked windows and 2/50 air conditioning. I've had a number of technology-laden vehicles and have never had a single issue with any of them. In the meantime, I enjoy all the benefits of all that technology on a daily basis.

I helped a man load his minivan. The rear door was open, but some rear seats were up.
He pushed some buttons near the top of the rear door opening, and the rear seats moved around and retracted into the floor.
Pretty cool. But how to trouble shoot and repair that???
