Posted on 07/01/2023 9:26:59 AM PDT by Kevin in California

Anyone here use Patriot Mobile for their cell service?

If so, pros or cons?

PM is reputable and OK. The thing you want to know is which company do they contract with to use their service.

Personally I’ve used Republic Wireless for over 6 years and really like them. I pay about 21 bucks a month and they use Tmobile service.

I do not, but use another discount carrier - Tello. $14/month w/ unlimited text. Very few problems in a year of service.

All phone carriers piggyback on either Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T. This means that Patriot buys bulk bandwidth at a discount, then sells it at a markup to customers. So Patriot is using the infrastructure of one of the Big Three.

I don't know which provider Patriot uses. But it comes with all its strengths and weaknesses.

I used to have Verizon, but had a lot of billing errors. I also had a DSL service which piggybacked on Verizon, and occasionally had service problems.

I now use T-Mobile, which has proven better than Verizon so far.

I don’t use Patriot. I use Mint. It’s $15 per month for unlimited voice/text. There’s a limit in data, but I have never hit it. I’m almost always around WiFi. I know Patriot has other reasons to use, but it’s more expensive.

I don’t use them, but it appears that the underlying network that they use is T-Mobile’s, if that helps you make a decision (i.e. for coverage, reliability, and data speeds, ask T-Mobile customers in your area how they like their network).

(In case you didn’t know, most smaller wireless companies basically rent limited priority access to the bigger ones’ networks.)

I’ve been using Mint for close to a year now... it was almost seamless and I’m saving a ton over Verizon. The only trade-off (which could be a big one) is that if you want/need a new phone, you’ve pretty much gotta buy it yourself.

No matter which operator you choose, or which reseller, there’s only 3 major US carriers. At&t, Vzw and T mobile. Dish/DirecTV (i forget which) has some spectrum but not much coverage area.

I like Patriot Mobile but all they are doing is buying some carrier’s spectrum at wholesale and then selling a branded service at retail.

I’ve been using hellomobile.com for years with no problem.
Seems to use TMobile towers. Unlimited talk and text and 1GB data for $10 a month. Other plans available.

Republic Wireless has a unique business model. They switch to wifi when youre in distance of a wifi to save on data. I pay the extra $5 for a gig of data and rarely use it all and then sometimes I have to buy another gig before the end of the month.

It’s a bring your own phone type of company. Order the sim for a few bucks, down load the app and your off for as little as $15 a month.

Mint actually has a $15 unlimited everything (including data) offer right now. I’ve been using Mint for over a year with no problems, and I love the cost savings over my previous provider AT&T where I was paying close to $100 per month.

I use Pure Talk. $45 a month. Been on it for a year or two. No issues except a cheaper bill.

My wife has less data and is around $20.

My wife and I are with Patriot. $68 total with unlimited text and 6gb data each, which is fine because we rarely stream. They sponsor Pro-life and 2A events. Customer service is great.

That price is good for three months, then you switch to regular pricing (which is still pretty darned good - $15 gets you unlimited talk/text plus 5 GB data.)

I live in Canada and my carrier Telus charges about 120$ canadian for unlimited Talk/Text/Data in Canada/USA. I got Tello for day trips to the US and upgrade to unlimited data when travelling...its damn cheap compared to the alternative

Reseller for T-Mobile (the Germans). Same for Mint.

I’ve had Mint for two years and have had zero problems. Their regular plan is $15 month for unlimited text and phone and 5 gb of data. One of our sons and his family live in Europe and Mint has a decent out-of-country plan for when I visit.
