If you follow your first link the fires that are to the east of James Bay and Hudson Bay will burn all summer.
Nobody lives up there so there is no danger to people/settlements. They will only go out if they get rain.
If you scroll in on Quebec almost every town in Quebec north of the cities are sawmill towns. They only exist because of the mill located there.
