New revelations about the armed uprising by the Wagner Group in Russia. The Moscow Times is reporting that the deputy chief of staff of Russia’s armed forces has been arrested. The paper says General Sergei Surovikin is being held on suspicion of being involved in Yevgeny Prigozhin’s rebellion. The New York Times has also claimed that a senior Russian general had advance knowledge of Prigozhin’s plans. The Kremlin denies the allegations and maintains military commanders are united behind President Vladimir Putin.

A top Russian general who reportedly had advanced knowledge of the Wagner rebellion has not been seen since the armed mutiny unfolded on Saturday. Sergei Surovikin is second-in-command of the Russian army and has known links to Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. Defence and security analyst Michael Clarke stressed that General Surovikin “must be having a fairly difficult time” adding that Russia’s deputy security council chief Dmitry Medvedev has also not been since Saturday.

Around for 25 years on this forum… There’s been at least 10 to 15 subjects that keep me around here… They’ve depleted over the last eight years or so including North Korea, where we used to have really good, adult, professional deep discussions and intelligent analysis for paragraphs on end like your material, instead of stupid one-liners devoid of content blindly praising or turning a blind eye to horrifics like Kim Jong-un…well, you know why….. it’s certainly not Reagan conservatism … Truth be told your great reporting is about the only reason I’m still here or check him once in awhile
