Ron DeSantis is preparing to implement additional reforms at Florida public schools that would prohibit drag performances to students and only allow children to go by new names with parental consent.

The Florida governor, along with Florida agencies, want to give parents more power over their childrens' education, as well as restrict any activities deemed age inappropriate.

Proposals from Florida's Department of Education, including a ban on districts using social media app TikTok, comes after DeSantis already received a slew of attacks related to his Parental Bill of Rights – deemed by critics the 'Don't Say Gay' law.

DeSantis' ongoing war with Walt Disney Co. stemmed from this controversial law. The presidential hopeful this week filed a motion asking a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit from Disney accusing him of violating its contract with the state over the former Reedy Creek Improvement District.

The new rollout of the education-related rules on Tuesday comes in response to a series of controversial bills passed by the Florida legislature and signed into law by DeSantis that are set to go into effect soon.

Hearings are scheduled to discuss the proposed rules on July 19 in Orlando, a remaining blue dot in the middle of a now-established red state that was once a swing state.

Firstly, the Education Department said it will now ban public school districts from taking their students on field trips or other 'school-sponsored activities' that include 'adult live performances.' This is in response to a law blocking children from attending drag shows in Florida with the rise in popularity of 'drag story time.'

Part of DeSantis' presidential platform includes a promise to return schools to the mission of 'education not indoctrination.'

I assume the left and their media megaphones are calling this a “Constitutional” crisis. Right?

Who else should be able to change a child’s name other than the parents? Also, certain “adult live performances” should be restricted. Plus, why would a school need Tik-Tok for its students? I cannot think of any educational value in viewing 15 to 20 second video clips of children doing stupid things or GIBLETS grooming children.

I have no objection at all to school field trips to view a live adult performance such as the “Nutcracker”. However, I do object if that musical has been re-written in “trans-GIBLET” form so that what the children view is not what a parent envisions when they think of the “Nutcracker”.
