That’s more than likely faulty maintenance. Possibly metal fatigue but still related to maintenance and inspection.....or lack there of.
There’s a reason aircraft maintenance records are meticulously kept......or are supposed be anyway.

OK to an extent, but the remainder of the plaane housing all the persons stayed intact enough for them to exit and carry on . Well done pilots/GREAT design and build American built airplane!
