I’m obsessed with those videos about plane crashes and how eventually they always seem to tie it back to faulty maintenance from years before.
Maintenance and especially preventative maintenance are imperative in aviation.
No pulling into the breakdown lane, popping the hood and calling AAA at 30,000 feet.
It was my gig for 37 years. 6 in the private sector, 31 with the DoD attached to the US Navy.
The Navy aircraft Maintenance was less than stellar......federal government employees basically impervious to termination working on jets, jet engines and vertical lift aircraft. Many hired through affirmative action hiring policies.....let that sink in for a minute.
To this day I still look back in disbelief that a class A mishap never occurred.
