He’s committed a crime that included menace. It’s not as if it was simply a car accident. Given the particular circumstances, just paying for a paint job doesn’t seem sufficient.

I agree. As an elected official he is to be held to a higher standard. If he does not resign, he should be removed, if that is permissible under the laws.
