You are right to boil it down to Truth. The nut of the matter is whether Truth is objective or subjective.

I believe that question is largely a cleavage point in that if a chisel is placed on the rock of politics with that question, a blow to that chisel will split somewhat cleanly separating Leftists from Conservatives.

Leftists believe Truth is subjective, whatever you decide it is. Conservatives believe in objective truth, truth that can be confirmed through the application of the scientific method.

Conservatives believe in observations of reality to find Truth in this world, and we can accept God's world on faith.

Leftists believe in faith in this world for everything which is why they believe in Globalism, high taxes, global warming, white supremacy, transgenderism, and so on. They are wholly objective on God, and refuse to believe unless they have proof. That is, they have the two things backwards. That is why we find it so jarring to hear a Supreme Court Justice nomination baldly state she cannot define a woman. Or some celebrity declare that yes, she believes a biological man can menstruate or have babies.

It all boils down to whether you believe Truth is subjective or objective. Because if you think truth is subjective you have a Willy Wonka Gold Pass into Cuckoo Land. In Leftist Cuckoo Land, the world is filled with possibilities. Men can be women, dogs, cats, unicorns, you name it. The laws of finance only mean what you say they mean. To Leftists, how much money you have on hand has no bearing in how much money you can spend. If you don't like being in a recession because the economy has been retracting for two quarters in a row, you merely change the official definition, and you aren't in a recession any more. You think simply not sending people to jail for violent crime will reduce violent crime. And so on.

And in the end, it is whether your Truth is Subjective or Objective.

I posted this yesterday on a thread titled "Woke ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies’ Canceled After One Season, Will Be Removed from Paramount+" and someone said it was because people didn't want to see minorities on their television programs, so they don't watch, and the show bombs.

I disagreed and wrote this:

I disagree. I don’t think it has anything to do with people not being keen on seeing minorities in their tv shows.

It has to do with the principle of authenticity in the context of honesty. Wokeness isn’t genuine. It feels absolutely un-genuine.

The secret of film (TV or Movies) is that somewhere, somehow, in some way, it has to touch a spark of genuineness in a person watching, no matter how small. But it has to make a connection.

To that person watching, that is the connection point that must exist no matter how minute, to conduct any appreciation or enjoyment.

It is a form of “truth” that forms in them act allows them to enjoy it.

I think that the secret to success is really to get people to be able to reach the point they can enjoy the movie by suspension of belief. Where they start paying attention to the story someone is trying to tell, and to identify with it.

That is why people watch movies.

Wokeness is the polar opposite of authenticity. It is completely false in its premise (that physical “diversity” is far more important than intellectual “diversity”. And I believe every person knows this is true, but to Leftists to whom any means is justified by the ends, that they can lie to themselves about something that fundamental.

So, when someone reads a book, sees a movie, watches a newscast, or hears a speech, the inauthenticity of wokeness overrides anything meaningful that the source might intend to convey. It completely blocks that connection of truth.

And in those who do allow their logic to be overridden by their emotion (the need to belong to the collective) and they allow a Mal-formed connection to be made (such as is seen in Leftists) it creates a cognitive dissonance that ricochets around inside their skulls, knocking out chunks of rationality as it flies about.

That is why I think “normal” people don’t want to watch it. It is fundamentally inauthentic. And who has time to waste on that?
