The submersible is reported to have made many dives before this one. I recall hearing a number in the neighborhood of 200.
Perhaps someone else can find how many actual dives it made.

On another thread I read that it had made 25 dives. I also read that in that particular configuration sub, it's typically scrapped after 2 or 3 dives because of the compression/decompression stress on the hull.
But, no narrow minded old white engineers. At least there was that.

I just read that sub made 3 dives to the Titanic in the past 3 years.
