He didn’t change the law. He was already able to run since it was for a Federal office. It’s been that way since before he was governor. The legislature simply clarified that and that a currently employed state official cannot run for another state office in or out of Florida.

Anyone running for the presidency has some degree of self-service involved, with the possible exception of George Washington.

I must have read something incorrectly. In any case, he’s still a weasel....but I don’t have a vote, so my opinion is irrelevant.

Are you kidding me? Really? He is a Governor. Trump’s business is private. De Santis is being paid by the taxpayers of Florida and was recently elected because he said he wanted that job. He obviously was only using it as a launch pad for higher office.

Doesn’t matter, he is pretty much a dud. I can see why Trump had to help him out the first time, not that Ron appreciated it. Got the big head he did.

Well birds of a feather. In your personal life I’ll bet you are a back stabbing climber. So you see nothing wrong with DeBrutus caniviving tactics.

I’d rather drink Bud Lite than vote for America’s Backstabber-In-Chief.

"Trump was a very good president."

The election of 2020 disagrees with you.

You don’t seem to understand democrats and cheating

So when Biden is re-elected will YOU then tell us what a good president he is?

Speaking of which, still no one answers my #28.

What is this “back-stabbing” you speak of?

I begin to think EverTrumpers don’t know the meaning, just as Dems don’t know what “fascist” means.

Will you EverTrumpers stop conflating not being all-in for Trump (including believing fraud) with “loving Biden”?

It’s absurd. One does not mean the other.

What did he say?

Or are you saying, passive not endorsing him is back-stabbing? EverTrumpers were saying this a long time ago. So I have no real idea what it is that is legitimate.

Trump pushed DeBackStabber over the finish line in 2018. Now he is running against Trump.

Get it yet?

This will be my last and final attempt to explain this simple concept to you.

No. Yup never come up with anything specific.

In fact, the best I figure is this started at the 2022 elections, when Trump started calling DeSantis names.

And the most I can tell is Ron didn’t stand up and say “Trump for president” when the blowhard narcissist declared very early.

That is PASSIVE “defiance”, at best. Which means, there is no obvious “disloyalty” going on.

"I cannot stand the way DeSantis speaks. He says "I'm" and it sounds like "um".   I don't know if he drops diphthong sounds or it's something else but it sounds like a lazy doofus speaking.

I don't remember that when I lived for a year in Tampa. It might be a Pennsylvania/Ohio thing.

It's a Florida thing.   I happened to remember a running gag in the film "Big Trouble" (2002) staring Tim Allen, Rene Russo, Stanley Tucci, Tom Sizemore, Johnny Knoxville, Dennis Farina, among others and a real young Zooey Deschanel portraying a schleppy geeky girl.   The running gag was a Florida Gaters fan calling on the radio to the Sports program defending his Gators saying "all's um saying..." before driving his point into the ground.

The film was written by Dave Barry, author of numerous humorous books and a weekly syndicated column with the Miami Herald.   Ron DeSantis talks like a comic character in a regional comedy joke.   So yeah, it's a Florida thing.

http://www.pnj.com/story/news/politics/2023/05/24/who-replaces-desantis-resign-florida-explainer/70254205007/

Headlines that made him look as though he’d finagled the rules got more clicks, I guess. Some of the articles didn’t even bother to check out the history of the changes to the resign-to-run law.

None of the candidates are perfect, but at least 3 of the Republican ones would be a whole lot better than Biden. I don’t really get shredding all but one candidate since none of them are immortal. I’m never-Biden, just as I was never-Hillary.

Agreed - no Biden, no Hitlery, no MICHELLE OBAMA (I keep hearing that name being put out there). I like Vivek, but I suspect he has no chance. At least he doesn’t seem to be a rino swampster.
