House Republicans are moving to effectively strip security clearances from any intelligence or defense official who signed on to an October 2020 statement that raised the question of whether the release of Hunter Biden's emails was part of a Russian disinformation campaign.
As part of a much-larger bill funding US defense, Republicans on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense proposed prohibiting any funding to grant, renew, or maintain a security clearance for any official who signed the statement.
More than 50 former intelligence officials, including former CIA Directors Mike Hayden, Leon Panetta, and John Brennan, signed the letter raising questions about the then newly published New York Post story concerning emails from Biden's laptop. Politico reported at the time that the letter was provided to the publication by Nick Shapiro, a former top aide under Brennan.

Good idea, but McCarthy will cave as he always does
Cutting defensive spending by 20% would a splendid idea too.
Anyone who signed that letter should be cut off from receiving any intelligence.
They should also strip the security clearances from all FBI officials who knew for a fact (in 2020) that it was NOT Russian disinformation, but said nothing.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH, you need to include EVERY LAST PERSON, including the FISA Judges that were involved in any way with the Treasonous Seditious Conspiracy to Overthrow a Sitting President of the United States.RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA
Also in the GOP lexicon: “hope to”, “plan to”, threaten to”, “explore”, and “seriously consider.”

I don’t understand WHY anyone not in an administration any longer still has security clearances. Is some idiot in the government saying that they are entitled to clearance and not being in the government any longer are of no DANGER to the country? Not subject to blackmail as much as any serving official? I wouldn’t trust any of those named. They already proved to the rest of us they couldn’t be trusted to be loyal to the country!
This needs to be done, yesterday.
Agreed, terrific idea.
STRIP THEM ON THEIR SECURITY CLEARANCES.
THEY ARE DEMOCRATS OR RINOS.
Should also prosecute any media outlets who ran with this story.
Others more knowledgeable can chime in but clearances are good for a certain period of time and in the context of the person’s responsibility. Just because you have TS clearance, doesn’t mean you can see TS material outside of your responsibilities.
Once you’ve left the government, the only way you keep a clearance is via a defense\IC contract. That’s the theory. It unfortunately has been winked at way way too long. Many contractors carry way more cleared personnel then they need to do the job.
About time, this is how it needs to be done. This is finally something substantial. We know the spending bill will pass no matter what, so make it cost the deep state also.
Anyone who signed that letter should be cut off from receiving any intelligence.

Exactly think of the TS as a building. Inside the building are many rooms - compartments, special accesses, etc. Getting a TS just gets you in the building, it doesn’t mean you can go into every room. The job you’re assigned gives you a ‘Need-to-Know’ which may get you into several rooms but you’re not going to know them all. The DOD, DOE, State, Fed LEO & IC manage their TS (with some small differences in management) and who gets into what rooms and why. There is cross organizational cooperation on this as the specific job may require.
Who had the balls to come up with this?
MTG?
Anna Paulina Luna?
Lauren Boebert?
