Go back and read the problem again and the answers available …..there were no parentheses around 2x4 in the problem. You added those.

If there were parentheses in the problem I would have agreed with you but there are none. The answer’s available to choose from give you a hint since there was no-

You don’t need the parenthesis. I simply used them to illustrate the order of operation. Order of operations says you do multiplication and division before addition and subtraction.
