Correction:
Only idiots wore the masks at all.
A too long for the point and B -itis is an inflammatory condition or illness. -osis would be more appropriate, an abnormal condition.
During the pandemic the people most likely to go without a mask were African-Americans in my observation. Now it seems like the ones most likely to be wearing a mask are African-Americans. I don’t include Asian people because many of them were wearing masks before the “pandemic” and still do even while driving alone.
Why does anyone care? And why the vitriol?
As far as I know, no one is asking me to put one on.
There are plenty of reasons to wear a mask—last week in New England I was tempted to wear one on my walk because of the smoke. My eyes and throat certainly would have been in favor of some kind of filter.
But, wasting a second of your life thinking about what someone else is doing is the sign of a person who thinks are better than your fellow humans. Me? I do t give a hoot. You do you.

A few people who are especially vulnerable to infection and its consequences still wear masks.
The rest of us need not!
I see video clips from NYC and California with people still wearing those gross things.
I haven’t seen anyone wearing a mask in my area for while now.
Don’t forget, crooks wear mask too, but for a different reason.

I disagree. That is an extreme unprovable statement.
I see people wearing face masks and assume they are at risk sick people who really have no business being in public if their health is so fragile that they dare not risk catching anything from anyone.
Perhaps they have been vaxxed and boosted so often that they have now put themselves at a high risk of deadly complications from the vaccines. And masking up is a safe bet.
The absolute, most insane thing I still see are skeeert people wearing their masks.....outside.....by themselves....in......110º heat.

My once peaceful white neighborhood is now infested with afros and I see some wearing masks, below their nose, everyday at my 7-11. I just laugh at them...
Havent seen a white person in a mask for a while now...

We split time between the insane liberal San Francisco Bay Area (on the Peninsula) and very conservative North Idaho.
Mask wearing is exactly what you would expect. Virtually NONE in Idaho and maybe 5% in California. Our health care facilities in CA FINALLY dropped their mask requirement, but most staff are still wearing them.
During the pandemic, life in North Idaho was barely changed at all while CA went absolutely bonkers with every possible precaution under the sun. The results of this big experiment? Equal outcomes for both states (infections, hospitalizations, ICUs, and death). All the extreme measures in CA had ZERO effect (except for making people absolutely neurotic).
I still occasionally wear a face mask when I think it is appropriate.
If I am repeatedly coughing or sneezing in public I put one on to reassure the other people I am near.
Or if I need to ride on public transit I may wear one briefly to protect myself from other people. Masks don’t stop infection from coughs or sneezes but they do lower the dose of an infection, which is also important.
My experience is that people who insult others with words like “idiot” should usually be looking in a mirror.
I have a neighbor who randomly wears one. He used to wear one all the time but now whenever... That makes no sense at all. I guess it is a pacifier for him.
And the ones thatvI see wearing them are wearing those cheap blue ones that won’t stop any disease.
That's because the same mentality had them subjected to multiple rounds of the clotshot, which will prove to be a long-term killer.
The government at all levels really should apologize to Americans for really truly totally screwing up this scamdemic.
