Only idiots and doctors.
To some people it’s become a fashion statement.
They may not help that much with airborne diseases (as Covid turned out to be) but most diseases going around are droplet-borne. And, if they don’t help at all, why do medical personnel wear them?
Or people on chemo.
Seeing a face mask gives me useful information about the wearer. And its all I need to know.
Like Arnold the Ape
I love the old man in a chair...
Also, people wearing masks don't have to smile at anyone if they don't feel like it. A plus if you're anti-social or if your job requires you to smile all day.
Correction:
Only idiots wore the masks at all.
A too long for the point and B -itis is an inflammatory condition or illness. -osis would be more appropriate, an abnormal condition.
During the pandemic the people most likely to go without a mask were African-Americans in my observation. Now it seems like the ones most likely to be wearing a mask are African-Americans. I don’t include Asian people because many of them were wearing masks before the “pandemic” and still do even while driving alone.
Getting a tattoo exposes one to the risk of getting HIV, hepatitis C or hepatitis B. Any of those would be worse than COVID.
“I like the ones driving alone in their cars with masks on.”
I used to see runners and bicyclists with masks on and people hiking.
Why does anyone care? And why the vitriol?
As far as I know, no one is asking me to put one on.
There are plenty of reasons to wear a mask—last week in New England I was tempted to wear one on my walk because of the smoke. My eyes and throat certainly would have been in favor of some kind of filter.
But, wasting a second of your life thinking about what someone else is doing is the sign of a person who thinks are better than your fellow humans. Me? I do t give a hoot. You do you.
“Seeing a face mask gives me useful information about the wearer. And its all I need to know.”
It does give us a good way of identifying us and them.
Sort of like the Sneetches in the Dr Seuss book.
Well, when the oncologist tells you that your wife’s immune system is going to be wrecked for a couple months and that you should wear a mask…guess what? You wear the mask. I love these people who challenge the immune system specialists. I gleefully wore a mask for a couple of months BEFORE Covid. And…I trust my board certified oncologist more than I trust FR docs.
I have so wanted to ask some of the maskers if they wash their mask as much as their underwear

I sometimes wore a Zorro mask during the height of the pandemic. Some got it but many were confused.
