Country music and it’s stars used to be down home, clean, for God and Country. Not any more. They are turning into panderers so they can sell more records. Folks are so afraid these days of being called names, or maybe lose some business over a very minor segment of our population. Is that bigoted? No, because that same segment is trying to force me to accept them and their lifestyles no matter what I may believe or my freedom of choice. Like abortion. The pro-choice people want us to accept their choices, but they do not want to accept ours. That’s not diversity, inclusion or equity as they say it is.
If you compromise with evil, just just get more evil...................
Garth Brooks had three great albums in the beginning (1989-1991), I'll give him credit for that and for pumping some much needed life into the country music scene. I think the number of radio stations playing country music TRIPLED during that time. Even Boston had two country music stations by 1992, when they previously had zero.
Since 1992 however, with the awful "We Shall Be Free" dreck, he went steadily downhill from there with regard to quality of music. Fortunately a lot of other country artists stepped up to keep the momentum going (i.e. Travis Tritt, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, etc.)
But those first three albums made his career and he's been coasting on that ever since. If any casual fan can name five Garth songs, I guarantee they will be from those first three albums.
Speaking of Garth, his next venture appears to be a new country radio streaming network. He is partnering with Storme Warren, the main jock at Sirius/XM "The Highway", who recently left that station to work with Garth.
I don't know much about Storme personally but on-air, he was always a bit full of himself and way too "chatty" on his morning show. You could tell he was 100% woke so he and Garth are two peas in a pod. Will be interesting to see what happens with this new venture of theirs.
Meanwhile, his on-air replacement (Macie Banks) on the Highway is doing a bang-up job. Way more music in the morning and less chatter. Also, when she does talk, she has interesting things to say about the MUSIC and the ARTISTS. None of that preachy stuff. The way it should be.
I wish we were neighbors.
Garth Brooks has so much money, whether or not his bar does well isn’t going to make much of a difference, other than to his ego.
did i read that some of his investors bailed on his bar after the “aholes” comment?
if he wants to offer bl fine
i dont agree with him
but the “aholes” comment is going to piss people off
Yes, his investors pulled out.......................
People whose thing is performing in front of others often make the mistake of thinking their talent makes them bulletproof businessmen/women, great scientists, or charismatic philosophers, when, in fact, the IQ part of the brain has been overtaken by the dancing minstrel part.
“Garth Brooks did for country music what pantyhose did for finger f*cking.”
U come to town holler
Garth despite his politics which have always been woke is very generous with his revenue
All his employees from roadies to semi drivers etc have done really well working for him
I know two
And he gives away cash on whims to help folks
I know this from someone he helped after him seeing the plight on TV
I know I’m a minority but I liked the Chris Gaines album. If the movie had come out, it would have be a great marketing plan. Unfortunately whatever was supposed to release at the same time, died before launch.
Mercy that was a LONG time ago. . . sheesh - am I really that old?
