That would make me so angry I would consider burning my own house to the ground if it were occupied by enemies.

This is absolutely shameful that this kind of loophole exists, and that people who criminally take full and arrogant advantage of it are protected by the law.

Just another way that the ownership of property can be abolished.

As another poster stated, someone is going to get killed, hopefully the squatters and not someone trying to reclaim their legal property.

As other posters pointed out, this is a problem nationwide. For whatever reason, the law doesn’t want to get involved except through the court system and that’s not right.

I haven’t been able to determine IF the homes squatters pick are empty and on the market OR do they sometimes take over if a property is for sale but the REAL OWNERS are still living in it? Would it be safe to take a trip in that case leaving the house empty of the true owners/residents with a FOR SALE sign in the front yard?

This has been news in GA lately and the owner of a large home was in the Army and deployed...came home and found her home had been taken over...

Hard to believe that state legislatures won’t find it necessary to take this up and put an end to the nightmares people are experiencing but not surprising!
