The film was suppose to be based on the short story </>”Farewell to the Master.”</i> I read the short story and that is a huge stretch, to say the least.
Totally ignored in the movie version, and revealed at the very end of the original story, is the revelation that the robot was the master, not Klaatu. Of course, that didn’t fit with the film maker’s liberal agenda.
