On a related note, John Garand was Canadian born and came to the U.S. when he was 11. He had to learn English. He was 31 when he built the prototype for a light machine gun, became a citizen a year later, and patented the M-1 Garand twelve years after that.

Excellent, we could use more of them, but they seem to have gone away. But also keep in mind that some of our WORST decision makers, starting with Nuland and Vindman, either were born in Ukraine (Vindman, real name: Олекса́ндр Ві́ндман), or descended from Ukraine (Nuland).
