Check the timelines starting on June 4, keeping in mind that pro-Ukraine sources are deliberately slow on updating maps for operational security reasons. Ukraine is going slow, little by little and not talking much about it until a few days after the fact.
This is a slow grind, not a blitz. Ukraine is shaping the battlefield, probing, and taking small bites. Ukraine is holding back the majority of its forces for the main attack it has not yet launched. Until that happens lots of writers will get paid for writing their extremely important opinions of which they know as little as their readers about what is really happening.
Ukraine's keeping quiet allows Russia to say whatever it wants. It does not change what is happening on the ground. When Russia is losing they lie and claim they are inflicting insanely huge losses on Ukraine. It is safe to assume that what Russia says about Ukrainian losses is more true about their own. The fact is Ukraine has taken back twice as much territory in a week than Russia took a year to take Bakhmut.
