This is how Jesus taught his disciples to pray (not one word of it is addressed to Mary or any other idol. God will not share his glory, Isaiah 42:8) -
“This, then, is how you should pray:
’Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,’”
Matthew 6:9
So you now agree that the Hail Mary is a biblical prayer?
Do you only pray one prayer “Our Father”? Catholics pray it at every Mass. All are welcome to pray with us. Do you pray the Sign of the Cross, the Glory Be, and the Apostles Creed, etc.?
Calling Mary an idol is blasphemy and a grievous sin. Do you truly believe that Catholics worship Mary as God? Have you been told lies by false teachers? Jesus warned us about them in Mt 7 (know them by their fruits)
Mary was selected by God to become the Mother of Jesus (God) incarnate by the Holy Spirit with two natures Human and Divine. She accepted her role. Do you fully understand the relationship she has with Jesus as His mother? Do you not understand that her role helped Jesus complete his tasks for our salvation? Do you understand that the Blessed Mother is trying to help all of us to get to Heaven?
God has told us to pray for each other. So we pray with the Blessed Mother and the saints in Heaven and on earth to God.
Paul says that Christians should intercede: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:1–4). Clearly, then, intercessory prayers offered by Christians on behalf of others is something “good and pleasing to God,” not something infringing on Christ’s role as mediator.
Why the concern about praying with Mary to God? As adopted children of God, most would want to be close to Mary that has an intimate knowledge of God.
