The victims were traded to North Africa and to the Middle East.

Moslems were the middlemen. The tribal chiefs they bought from sent their bandit gangs out to catch slave material. And the worst of the tribalism in Africa now is still the Moslems but as a great big Moslem trib. And Moslems still keep black slaves in Mauretania and Sudan.
