Beyond a Banana Republic
American Thinker ^ | 17 Jun, 2023 | William Sullivan

As radio personality Jesse Kelly remarks on Twitter, there are two ways to view what is happening with Donald Trump right now:

Either you see what's happening to Trump as being about Trump or you see it being about a weaponized government planning to make any opposition a crime.

Only one of those views is correct. You don't have to be a Trump fan to see it's the latter.

For most Americans who've paid the slightest bit of attention these past years, that's an obvious statement. But as George Orwell said of his own time, we've "sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men."

That particular phrase derives from a 1939 review of the book Power: A Social Analysis (1938), by Bertrand Russell. What makes his observations interesting, and why it serves as another example of Orwell's prescience, is how precisely his commentary reflects what we are witnessing at this moment.

While he offers praise to Russell as among the most "readable of living writers," and notes that his not being in jail signifies "that the world is still sane in parts," he does critique his "pious hope" that the madness of the world in 1938 could not endure, much less descend into a deeper madness. "He is inclined to point to the past," Orwell writes, and to say that "all tyrannies have collapsed sooner or later," and "there is no reason to suppose [Hitler] more permanent than his predecessors."

Americans today, like Russell, cling to the fading hope that common sense will prevail and that the weaponization of our institutions and our obvious march toward an authoritarian state cannot continue. And Orwell wouldn't have been surprised, given the extent to which he feared the potential for tyranny represented...

Would Orwell be surprised to learn that he had written an instruction manual?

A banana republic but without the nice beaches, palm trees, coconuts and cool breezes.

“…worked “behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage, and control the flow of information” in order to prevent Trump from winning in 2020.”

Bullshit. Trump annihilated the stumblebum. They outright had to artlessly steal the election. And they will continue to prevail until Trump or whomever replaces him realizes that if we want to make our omelette we’re gonna have to break a lot of eggs.

A banana republic meets the wild, wild west when the BLACK HATS ran roughshod over the decent folks, and only one WHITE HAT in sight.

The true enemy of America is our Intelligence Community (IC). I believe those in charge of these entities are Communists. Project Mockingbird is alive and well and even more sophisticated than in years past. Thus, most of the media are on the CIA payroll or harboring CIA anti-American sentiments. Today, the community’s sole mission along with the media is to shape American mental perception, consistent with the Communist philosophy. Mind control has and is the Community’s primary mission today. Keeping the Country safe from foreign enemies is the least of their concerns. Indeed, they are in bed with our enemies. I can not stress hard enough that Trump’s very first objective in office has to be to burn all 18 entities of the Intelligence Community to the ground and carefully resurrect only the bare minimum that is truly needed to protect America. JFK knew it, JFK, Jr. knew it, RFK, Jr. knows it, and Trump ought to know it.

The Clinton’s and Obama started the weaponization of EVERY American institution.

I now only pray to see the day that the Washington DC Deep State (and it’s Golden Calf masters) all go down in a final apocalyptic destruction, preferably under the heat of a thousand mushroom clouds. Not a single one will escape punishment and agonizing pain.

Clinton and Obama so much deserve what is coming to them.

Tucker refers to the DC machine as Permanent Washington.

A culture of multiple generations has come to see DC as their land, their property, their family company. This happens in small towns, churches, schools. The power families intermarry. They see themselves as US, and the regular folks outside their circle as THEM. They then use their power to protect their bubble from outside threats and changes to their normal existence.

The hand of God and the passing of time eventually reduces these power families via their hubris and bored decadence. God id not mocked.
