It’s the season for graduation presents, and this year, the Star Tribune is offering an unusual gift to Minnesota’s entire graduating high school Class of 2023: a free, one-year digital subscription.
The new initiative, which was first announced in late April, is the latest experiment of the Star Tribune’s News in Education program. Just before the 2020 presidential election, the Star Tribune expanded that program to offer free digital subscriptions to all Minnesota school districts with the goal of strengthening news literacy through access.

The media are so full of themselves.
18 year old today love print media.
So good they can’t even charge anything for it because so few people own birds any more.
A free one year subscription, and it has nothing to do with sex or promoting abortion? Well, now!
Doesn’t this discriminate against those who because of discrimination and cultural imperialism were not able to graduate?
They prefer Tic Toc...or Instagram.
Assuming they’re literate and woke, they would rather to get a subscription from New York Times. But 999 out of 1,000 Seniors will be using TikTok instead.
That’s worth at least $3!
Oh, Tic TOC, the Social Medium.
NOT Tic TAC, the little hard candies for fresh breath.
I’m a little out of the loop, one could say.
Stay outta that loop…no good.
Mind control combined with mind probing.
Don’t forget Twitter and fakebook.
Red Star Tribune.
Probably so.
This is business prospecting. It’s not a gift.
Can’t see why anyone would want it though. The Red Star Tribune is communist filth.
Even if you subscribe they block your posts if they allow any posts at all on articles.
Can their graduates read?
“Strengthen news literacy” = indoctrination of DNC propaganda
The paper should provide a 3-year subscription, then offer a case of Bud Light with the first renewal. And a gift certificate to Target’s tuck-friendly promotions. Might as well get it all covered.
Almost as good as a Cross pen and pencil set.
Earlier today I linked off Drudge to a Telegraph story and a pop-up appeared telling me I viewed 20 pages last year without a subscription.
This is BS I thought but maybe it’s a shakedown to giving it some more thought perhaps in the future an AI could gleem from the stories I was a threat or racist or climate denier?
