Not just the Belmont but all three triple crown races, Secretariat still holds the record for the fastest time

Right, but the record Secretariat set that day wasn’t just for the Belmont, but for the mile and a half distance on any track, which is even more impressive. The record for the mile and a quarter (the Kentucky Derby distance) is held by Spectacular Bid, who set it in 1980 at the Strub Stakes. That one looks to be unbeatable as well. And the record for the even mile was set by Dr. Fager in ‘68. Amazing that all three records still stand.

But Secretariat’s Belmont was the most impressive race ever run, given the circumstances.

That’s just unbelievable.

Not only a Triple Crown winner, but holds the records for the fastest times at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, & Belmont.

I had no idea, thanks.
