The paradox of atmospheric cooling
The Week US (via MSN.com) ^ | 09 June 2023 | Devika Rao

Posted on 06/09/2023 6:36:43 AM PDT by zeestephen

An unexpected consequence of climate change known as upper atmospheric cooling has finally been confirmed by satellite sensors...While proving the accuracy of our previous climate models, the phenomenon has experts "very worried," according to Yale Environment 360...While the blanket of air close to the Earth's surface is warming, most of the atmosphere above is becoming dramatically colder...

Sure would be nice to have some FOSSIL FUELS around if we’re entering another Ice Age, or even cooling a bit.

Shouldn’t be THAT paradoxical. Any energy that is trapped by CO2/water/methane/whatever and converted into heat lower down isn’t available to be converted into heat higher up.

A LITTLE bit of global warming is real and anthropogenic.

It’s amusing hearing the Globalist Liberals empretzeling themselves to justify anti-growth measures to “battle” “global warming”.

‘While proving the accuracy of our previous climate models, the phenomenon has experts “very worried,”’ What nonsense. The climate models have been wrong from A to Z.

So,,,
You can have Global Warming and Global Cooling
emergency crises at the same time !?

Perfect...

I am a skeptic of “man caused” climate change. In the northern states we have a phenomenon called “lake turnover”, where the temperature of the water on the top layer of the lake becomes colder than the bottom due to low air temperature in late fall. This layer falls to the bottom of the lake and the warmer bottom water raises to the top. I would not like for the colder layer in the upper atmosphere to fall and instantly cool the earth’s surface. That may explain why the instant freezing of animals and the start of an ice age. Just a thought.

Oh my. Now global warming will cause low orbit satellites to collide. I’m sure the quoted simpleton in the article “the sky is literally falling” doesn’t realize how amusing that comment is

Maybe Kerry and his band of ‘more money than brains’ fools seeded the upper atmosphere and will kill all of us... The good thing is Kerry and his band of idiots will die with us.

the phenomenon has experts "very worried,"

There are no "experts" when it comes to the global climate - certainly not in the modeling business.

Computer models are only as good as the programmer and the data input. GIGO.

But here we are, destroying multiple economies based on their opinions.

Radiant cooling occurs in winter on cloudless nights.
That’s what causes frost. You can also feel at other times
to a lesser degree.

Thanks for the Watts Up link, Freedom Force.

I found the MSN.com link while reading headlines this morning.

I knew that Free Republic would have a lot of fun with the contradictory language in the first few paragraphs, so I could not resist posting it.

(Repost with getter formatting)

The US is the 3rd largest country in the world. It's over 3,000 miles wide, without including Alaska. The land mass is enormous.

Do you think it's possible the entire world warms, except for the US? Yeah, no.

Because of a history of questionable data from our measuring stations, 20 years ago the US implemented the most accurate climate measuring system in the world, scattered across the entire US. It is super accurate. It's called, "The US Climate Reference Network (USCRN)."

https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/crn/

The USCRN is THE gold standard temperature measuring system on the planet, measuring the US temperature with incredible precision for 20 years.

What does it show?

The US hasn't warmed a bit in the last 20 years!

Thanks for the USCRN chart, Basket.

Here is the USCRN "Temperature Anomaly" chart (from Watts Up With That), which has a similar look, but more detail and a different perspective.
