catch the fish, gut the fish, start a fire, cook the fish...

I always had to stand on the porch holding the rabbits and squirrels rear feet while Dad, who was on the ground, did the skinning and gutting.
Probably started doing it when I was only 5 or 6, but I still remember how to do it if need be.
We also took part in slaughtering hogs and steers, and killing and cleaning chickens on our grandparents farm.
It never occurred to us girls to object.
