Sarcasm?
Seriously, it’s a township named for Colonel Ledyard, who led the locals against invading British at Ft. Griswold down at Groton, while Benedict Arnold attacked New London across river. Arnold came from Norwich where I lived.
Lots of graves in the region describe the subject patriot fighting “traitor Arnold” at that time. (I’m a graveyard nut and that was a huge pastime for me up there.)
hmmm ... ya think?
of course I can understand the confusion ...
I've noticed that repetitive one liners have just about taken over. So .... I try to make sure that I mingle a little “thought” with my posts
But I'm not above the occasional snarky one liner just to see if I can get in the door.
And what do you know ... all of a sudden I've been blessed with a tid bit of knowledge . Your a “graveyard nut “... in my youth I worked a survey crew .. I couldn't tell you the number of graveyards we came upon out in the middle of no where.
The old church yards were cool but it was the slave yards that were the most interesting. .... most developed over now,
a lot of history lost.
..... on topic ... yes a bit of sarcasm ... you know ...florida man ...etc... 8-)
I thought a thread about a guy pouring milk on his wife was a pretty good place to “one line”it.
