Some movies draw you back for a second observation.
This film is one of several found this month

The strudel scene is a masterclass in suspense. I was breathless for Soshana as Col. Landa seemingly toyed with her throughout.

This is worth a watch. Anyone who wants a drama about this subject, I would recommend Tom Cruise’s “Valkyrie” (2008).

“That’s a bingo! Is that how you say it?”

“We just say bingo.”

The scene in the bar as they play the game.

True story, I had a German friend that watched it with me, and right when Hickox gave himself away, he shouted out “Oh, schieße!”

A few scenes later, I learned why.

That is another amazing and suspenseful scene for sure. My untrained ears couldn’t tell any difference in the different German dialects, but clearly your friend could!

I’ve seen it a couple of times....I usually like most things Brad Pitt is is.

Tarantino’s penchant for long drawn out scenes with seemingly endless dialog can be a bit mind numbing however... for me anyway.

But it’s that slow building of tension that makes it work, like Landa’s interrogation of the farmer.

Huh. I watched the first 20 minutes where someone who is hiding Jews is interrogated. Just went on and on with tedium. Found something else to watch. No thanks.

I wonder how many got the significance of Landa insisting on Shoshanna having the cream with the strudel.
