No, you could use Linux. It's not "just Microsoft". That's a false soundbite that they put out there on purpose. I'd be happy to help you switch.

Linux is where I am heading. Only hiccup is certain things are only allowed on Windows and Mac OS, like TurboTax. I want the forms filled out on my PC, so I refused to file over the Internet. But TurboTax and other apps don’t have a suitable replacement with Linux. Yet. They have until October 2025 when Windows 10 become EOL’ed.
