During the period between peak Elvis and the Beatles, Mann/Weil and Goffin/King wrote nearly everything that wasn’t from the Beach Boys. It’s not like they stopped in the 70s and 80s either.
Add Ellie Greenwich (2009) and Jeff Barry (still alive) to that list, along with Holland-Dozier-Holland, Norman Whitfield-Barrett Strong, and Berry Gordy.
Dang, that is quite a legacy.
