I have seen the video too. The ship/booze cruise boat was not going fast. He did not jump from much of a height either. I was waiting for someone to throw him some kind of life preserver, but no one ever did. It is hard to believe that the captain would have not marked their position on GPS and been able to return to the exact same spot. Unless the sharks took him that fast.
I did see what looks like a white ring life preserver in the water, maybe 15 feet forward of him. He didn’t swim towards it though.
When I was in the Navy, we did man-over-board maneuvers all the time, in winter and heavy seas and in darkness. I was on sonar or course plotting on a projection table. When the alarm came, we’d mark the position, switch to the highest resolution projector head and guide the ship back to the marked position. No GPS back then.
Happily, we never lost a man :-)
20 seconds into the video there is a lifebuoy that was thrown in the water and his friends are yelling at him to ‘grab the buoy, grab the buoy!’
