While they had it, I was convinced QuickTime was spyware. Updated constantly and always took longer than you’d expect. What else could it be?

Current iOS is 16.5... and an entire generation and a half. There is a reason for the notices to update your system software.

Let me guess - you use a Google-spyware phone to mock Apple, who has proven to have the LEAST intrusive/spying OS and policies?

What is there to answer? The MOST RECENT iOS that supposedly still has the vulnerability is over a generation and a half old. The current iOS version is 16.5. The last generation of iOS with the vulnerability is 15.7. Seems Tim DID answer - via the usual software update. jUst like every other software company deals with bugs and vulnerabilities.

Of course - you too are demonstrating abject, willful ignorance and hypocrisy. What OS does YOUR phone use? If not Apple’s iOS, then it is almost certainly some variety of Android - aka - Google’s own 100% “can’t opt out” spyware and their direct pipeline GIVEN to the Federal Government without any requests, warrants, or court orders... and they sell your private info - and again, you cannot opt out.

a simple statement is not that much to expect...

i’d think accusing the US of using Apple to spy on Americans would generate at least a no comment, but that’s just me

Yeah - it actually is. Apple has a very long-standing policy of NOT discussing security holes - they quietly patch them. And indeed - this is just one of a few holes they patched and gave LOTS of warnings to users to update specifically due to these vulnerabilities. My wife is extremely lax in doing iOS updates. She almost always waits until I tell her to do them - and this is one that I had to remind her of (a year ago).

Again - the only “secret” was the specific exploit.

Word of wisdom on pretty much all electronic devices with firmware or operating systems that have regular updates available - do them. Doesn’t matter WHO is the originator (Microsoft, Google, Apple, etc.) - as they regularly bundle security updates with even minor regular bug fix releases.

Again - this has been fixed for over a year - with numerous updates since the last vulnerable release.
