The claim that guns are the leading cause of death for children would only be true if children under 1 are excluded and 18 and 19 year olds are counted as children.

I think you are right it did matter where you lived and what was going on in that state as to what was practiced in case of a nuke attack.

Back in the 50’s lived in UT, the alarm would go off at school and we were herded into the basement, then later it was hide under the desk.

Moved to Albuquerque in ‘59 and that all went away but many people had bomb shelters in their back yards, go figure.
