Am a furry...61 years old, a “greymuzzle”
(older) who does panels at these Conventions about Classic Cartoons. We raise money for charity, have parades, play game shows like Press Your Luck and Match Game, talk about art or writing, dance and talent competitions etc. I wear a raccoon tail.
Only during the convention.
Quite a few furries are younger and
definitely leftists.
We have Christian furries
Game Show fan furries.
Bring millions of dollars into
cities like Pittsburgh.
There are some Conventions who do
panels and events for kids and
efforts are made to keep things “clean”.
Families attend.
We had Joe Harris, creator of Underdog
and Trix Rabbit as a guest of honor.
One furry had his son dress up in
an Underdog costume to greet him.
One writer went undercover to a furry con in CT expecting all kinds of debauchery.
She wrote, “it was kinda like a costume party at a Catholic school.”
The key is people dress in costumes at
a convention then take it off later.
It’s not like a man saying “I’m now
a woman” and dressing that way for the rest of “her” [HIS] life..though
some furries do that. We’ve had singers
who dress in drag and when they talk
to you they still have a masculine
voice but consider themselves female.
(”Trans women are women”—except for the whole can’t have a baby thing.)
When the Anthrocon convention
moved to Pittsburgh in 2006 the
local media made fun of us. “Oh
the hotel rooms stink, they have
big litter boxes...”
We brought millions into the Pgh
economy. Now they LOVE us. Local
businesses with signs Welcome
Furries.
I went to a Pittsburgh Banjo Club
night. “Oh are you guys going
to do the public parade again?
We LOVE you!” Last year a huge block
party was held dahntahn as part of
the convention and Gateway Clipper
Fleet will have furry cruises.
Just sayin'...
I have to admit that I was trying to be funny. Furries is just like any other group of humans (except Democrats, and I’m not sure they are human), I mean that there are Christians, libertarians, Conservatives and others.
