Fake conservatives agree to fake spending cuts. Deal will increase mandatory spending ~5%, increase military spending ~3%, and maintain current non-military discretionary spending at post-COVID levels. No real cuts to see here.

The GOP takes conservatives for granted. Like the blacks in the Democrat party. Conservatives feel like there’s no where else to go.
Rand should run for President again this year. He’d have as good a shot as anyone. Probably just doesn’t want to be dragged down into Trump’s swine pit.

As expected. When we see negative numbers in the planned year-over-year spending, then we’ll see actual cuts.
And as McConnell will likely be happy with this sell-out outcome, this may again be a good point to suggest Rand Paul replace McConnell to give Republicans a new voice with a spine in the Senate. I may not agree with him on all topics, but it would be a big improvement.
No for President, but Yes for Minority Leader now, Majority in 2024. Maybe he could cut some deals with waivering Democrats to get the to switch or caucus with Republicans and he could become Majority now.
True. But, when is Paul going to speak the truth about the war in Ukraine? That is what would take courage. It seems he’s sold out himself.

The only conservatives who thought this might turn out differently are under 20 years old. Fiscal conservatism died ages ago. There are only two types of conservatism that have any hope: cultural conservatism and to a much lesser degree Constitutional conservatism. The only way that this nation will ever return to fiscal conservatism is if it undergoes a crisis that I cannot presently imagine.
