I'm going to pick 4 for starters that are in different decades but for the time frame were the best in My opinion/era/Genre. I don't care what type of music but this Thread is (hopefully) going to be about Stringed Instrument Solo, meaning only 1 person on the Instrument.
1) Eddie Van Halen born Edward Lodewijk Van Halen Van Halen Eruption (Live)
Trivia note: Eddie made his Guitars one of these was named Frankenstrat
2) James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix) National Anthem U.S.A (Woodstock 1969) I know this one may offend/upset some FReepers due to the song being played and if so I apologize.
Many including Myself aren't aware that Jimmie was in the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles".
3) Aleksandar Živojinović, known professionally as Alex Lifeson* La Villa Strangiato
4) Stephen Ray Vaughan aka Stevie Ray Vaughn Voodoo Child ~ Live From Austin, TX
BTW- 3 of the 4 of My picks are playing for God in Heaven, very impressive Roster being assembled...
*Still with Us.
why do you include “Of All Time” when you old fogeys only respond to or post tunes from the 60s??
Same thing with 90% of the tunes posted in the Canteen. What “Troops” are gonna be interested in the Lawrence Welk tunes you all post??
As far as "old fogeys" that kinda tells Me that the FReepers responding to the Thread are mostly from the same mentality but not necessarily the same age group. There's times when I'm going down the road and a song I don't like comes on the radio and I'll hit the SCAN button and I might stop it on some Classical Music Channel has something on at the moment and I like what I'm hearing so I check it out. I guess it might be called expanding one's horizon.
That said if you've never heard this before you might want to keep it in the memory bank.
"Old age and treachery can overcome youth and exuberance." Which translates to: Old people may not have the patience to put up with any crap out of the "yutes" so we might just shoot them because we've gotten lazy and are too tired to fight in our old age.
Have You ever heard of/listened to this song ?
ive posted many mp3s back when they were in and had 90 to 95% double downloads from .mil and .gov IPs which tells me they were liking and downloading my offerings “To the Troops”. however, not a single response from any freepers because i wasnt, nor in “The Clique”. all music posts went ignored.
People post music threads here, for the most part, to appeal to their own little groups and any outsiders are ignored. and the same people wonder why the numbers here are not growing.
I understand what you are saying about the oldies and some youngins my want to check out some heritage on music, but, i do not believe the majority of a threads music posts that are from the 50s and 60s is an interest to anyone not 70+ years old or trying to impress others whithin their little cliques.
With the exception of Kathy, I believe most are using “The Troops” to feed their own narcisism and I seriously think that is wrong and should be abolished...
So if I'm reading and understanding what you're saying here is that because of the level of responses to these Threads I am using the Replies to feed what you are calling narcissism on My part ?
Well you couldn't be further away from reality. I'm Posting these Threads for ANY and ALL to join in on if they want to. The only "Rules" are that it's a Solo Performer and the Type/Class of Instrument being used.
You might want to seek out some professional help IMO. And I'm not a Doctor and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
If you answered No to all 3, then you are alright in my book!! I thought I was quite clear but I guess you took my words above personal anyways.

Cadenza from Beethoven Violin Concerto as performed by Hilary Hahn. Hands down the most remarkable sound to ever come from a single performer using a single instrument.
