Had it gone into the stands it would have killed a half dozen people. There will be lots of hand wringing over this. But what would the fix be?

That was very weird, to say the least. So glad that no one was hurt.
There will be some who will say the race shouldn’t happen. That’s it’s a waste of gas. They will want to use electric vehicles. Can you just imagine?

They have tethers on all four corners of the car that are attached to the suspension to keep that corner with the car when there's a wreck in case it gets torn loose, which will also include the tire being tethered. Problem with this was the center of the wheel itself broke around the hub and the wheel in the tire with the center hub of it missing. It went flying over the fence, past the stands, so the tether did its job. The rim is what failed. I ran across this on YouTube the other night
some vintage stuff here. And if anybody's interested in Detroit Indycar, Grand Prix is tomorrow there is a new track actually downtown and something I've never seen before anywhere they have a left in right side of Pit Road there is a blue line running down the middle of it. www.tvracer.com has the TV Schedule for all racing.
