Outraged parents are urging a boycott of a North Hollywood elementary school after it scheduled a Pride event.
They are now planning to keep their children home from Saticoy Elementary on June 2 when the district plans to hold a 'Rainbow Day', during which students and children will read 'The Great Big Book of Families'.
The book highlights families of different backgrounds including same-sex parents and other LGBTQ+ relationships, interracial couples and adoptive families, among others.
Parents have now started an Instagram page and have circulated flyers for the protest, reading: 'Keep your kids home and innocent.'
'We respect everyone, but some things are appropriate for children (of) that age, and some things are not,' said George Dzhabroyan, a parent unhappy with the school.
In a statement, the Los Angeles Unified School District said parents can opt to have their child skip the assembly where the book will be read.
According to the parents' Instagram page, along with the reading of the book, materials that mention LGBTQ+ topics will be discussed during the event.
'Videos will be shown to the students including one where it says, "some kids have 2 mommies, some have 2 daddies,"' the page alleges.
A recent post states that the Saticoy student body includes a major population of Armenian and Hispanic families who consider themselves Christian.
The parents say they 'don't feel this material is appropriate to teach to children and believe it's a parent's right to choose.'
Saticoy, the angry parents say, has a population of roughly 500 students and the group protesting allegedly received 400 signatures on a petition against the event.

20 years ago it would have been unthinkable that the ‘Pride event’ could be held at an elementary school, and targeted at grade school kids. But they know that homosexuality isn’t natural, but must be indoctrinated or traumatized into children. They would rape children if they could, which in another 20 years maybe they’ll be able to do legally if nothing is done.
Ok groomers
This is fighting back and saying enough!
I assume many are recent immigrants.
I live in L.A.'s progressive Westside, mostly liberal whites and Jews, some Asians. These parents welcome Pride and Drag Queen school events. It's celebrated in the local papers.
Last June, all the parking meters were bedecked with rainbow ribbons.
Wonder how the Hispanics feel about the Dodgers? Pentacostalism is also grow8ng amoung Hispanics.
And it takes people 20 years to see this...that is what is so sad about the human race, in general.
This is fighting back and saying enough!

Perhaps they should also skip on the day that students are counted to determine school funding. (If that is still done...)
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Teachers are the most abject failures in America.
They should rent a room in the public library or a church and invite local homeschool groups to have a homeschooling info session that day. Add private and parochial schools. Use that day to show other options.
Two things that are very complicated for the GOP to understand, but I’ll state them anyway:
1. The people doing this to their children are DEMOCRATS.
2. The people who these parents vote for, time after time, are those same Democrats.
(suggestion for GOP: try talking to these parents)
When the “skools” have their LGBTQKY events, just keep the kids safe at home.
I DIDN”T CARE.....
I believe more and more people are starting to feel the way I/we do.
I never cared if you were “gay” or whatever acronym you chose to call yourself until you started wanting special privileges.
I never cared what color your skin was until you started blaming me for your problems I didn’t create.
I never cared about your political affiliations until you started to condemn me for mine.
I never cared where you were from in this great republic until you began condemning people based on where they were born and the history that makes them who they are.
I have never cared if you were well off or poor because I’ve been both until you started calling me names for working hard to make a better life for myself.
I’ve never cared if your beliefs are different than mine until you said my beliefs are wrong.
I’ve never cared if you didn’t like guns until you tried to take my guns away.
Now, I care.
I’ve given all the tolerance I have to give. This is no longer my problem, it’s your problem. You can still fix it, it’s not too late, but it needs to be soon.
I’m a very patient person. But I’m running out of patience. There are literally tens of millions of people just like me that are sick of all the Anti-American crap!
I’ve always cared about life and all lives, but now you try to force the notion on me and other fellow citizens and patriots that certain lives matter more than others.
You protest, riot, attack, burn, and loot.
Your so-called “movement” has become a radical out-of-control bunch of thugs, criminals, and anarchists who are intent on destroying our country.
The masses have had enough! America is the greatest country of liberties on Earth, and if you don’t like America, then we invite you to leave. We are done caring about your misguided “feelings.”
You don’t have the right to enjoy American freedoms when you are trying to take that right away from other Americans.
