Best prank I ever read about was a high school class in rural somewhere. The students went around the surrounding neighborhoods and took all the garden gnomes. They placed them all over the front lawn of the school. Looking like a friendly family reunion. The local police announced anyone missing a gnome should come to the school and collect them.

Prank took place at Ocean City high School, NJ. Forgot how to link but Google Do you want your gnomes back? and it will show up. Really very funny.
